VWR Freezer Alarm Thermometer Digital Dual Display

The VWR (Traceable) Refrigerator/Freezer Thermometer (Model 98000-208) is a high-accuracy digital monitoring device widely used to protect temperature-sensitive samples in laboratories. A defining feature of this unit is its bottle probe, where the sensor is sealed inside a miniature bottle filled with a non-toxic glycol solution. This "buffered" probe design is critical because it mimics the thermal mass of your actual liquid samples rather than the air. This prevents false alarms caused by rapid, temporary fluctuations in air temperature that occur whenever the refrigerator or freezer door is opened, ensuring that the alarm only sounds when your samples are genuinely at risk.

The device features a large Dual Display that provides a comprehensive view of the storage environment. It simultaneously shows the current temperature and the recorded Minimum/Maximum (Min/Max) temperatures achieved since the last reset. This Min/Max memory is an essential quality control tool, allowing you to check if a freezer failure or temperature spike occurred overnight or over a weekend, even if the temperature has returned to normal by the time you arrive. The unit allows you to set programmable high and low limits; if the temperature breaches these set points, a visual LED flashes and an audible alarm sounds to alert you immediately.

To satisfy regulatory requirements (such as CLIA, CAP, or GMP), this thermometer is supplied with a Traceable® Certificate. This indicates that the instrument has been individually calibrated at an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory against standards traceable to NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology). The unit is powered by standard AAA or AA batteries and includes magnetic strips and Velcro for easy mounting on the outside of the freezer door, while the thin probe cable runs through the door seal without compromising the gasket.
