Invitrogen Centrifuge Tube 2 ml with Snap-Caps Pack of 500 Tubes
The Invitrogen (Ambion) AM12425 Non-Stick Microfuge Tube is a premium 2.0 mL vessel designed specifically to solve the problem of sample loss in molecular biology. Unlike standard polypropylene tubes, which can bind significant amounts of nucleic acids and proteins to their walls, these tubes feature a proprietary non-stick resin. This material is not simply a coating (like siliconized tubes, which can leach oil into your sample) but is molded directly into the plastic. This ensures that virtually 100% of your precious RNA, DNA, or protein is recovered during transfers, which is critical when working with trace amounts or sticky samples.
Physically, the tube is sized at 2.0 mL, offering slightly more capacity than the standard 1.5 mL microtube, which is particularly useful for ethanol precipitations where extra volume is needed for the solvent. The tubes are certified RNase-free and DNase-free, making them the industry standard for handling RNA, where the slightest contamination can degrade the sample. They feature a positive-seal snap cap designed to stay closed during boiling or heating steps, preventing the "popping" issues often seen with generic tubes.
These tubes are supplied in a bulk bags and are autoclavable, though they come pre-sterilized and ready for immediate use in critical workflows like cDNA synthesis, in vitro transcription, or NGS library preparation. Their geometry fits all standard microcentrifuge rotors that accept 1.5/2.0 mL tubes.
