The Shimadzu 228-35010-91 is a Sapphire Plunger (also referred to as a piston) designed for the pump heads of Shimadzu high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) systems. The plunger moves back and forth within the pump head to deliver the mobile phase. Its smooth, polished surface is critical for maintaining a leak-tight seal with the plunger seals. The core component is a synthetic monocrystalline sapphire rod. With a hardness rating of Mohs 9, it provides extreme resistance to abrasive wear from the high-pressure seals, ensuring long-term volumetric consistency. The 228-35010-91 is a versatile part used across multiple generations of Shimadzu hardware such as the SIL-10ADvp, SIL-20A/AC/ACXR, SIL-30AC/ACMP, and SIL-HTa/c Autosamplers, and the LC-2010 A/C and the modern i-Series.
