The Applikon 2-3L Bioreactor Baffle is a critical structural component engineered to enhance mixing efficiency and gas-liquid mass transfer within 2-liter and 3-liter laboratory-scale glass bioreactors. Machined from premium 316L stainless steel, this baffle is designed to be suspended directly into the culture medium from the bioreactor headplate via an M6 threaded port. By physically disrupting the circular flow of liquid generated by the rotating impeller, the baffle prevents deep vortex formation and promotes chaotic axial and radial mixing. This action dramatically improves oxygen transfer rates and ensures a homogeneous suspension of nutrients and cells, making it an indispensable part for high-density microbial fermentation and mammalian cell culture.

Vortex Prevention: Converts the swirling, laminar flow of an unbaffled vessel into turbulent flow, preventing the culture fluid from climbing the vessel walls and burying the impeller in a central air pocket.
