The Kimble Kimax 15146-40100 is a precision laboratory weighing bottle designed for the accurate measurement and storage of solid samples, particularly those that are hygroscopic (moisture-sensitive). Unlike "plug" stoppers that go into the bottle, this has an externally ground body with a cap that fits over it. This design prevents sample particles from getting trapped in the ground joint and ensures that any material on the rim falls back into the bottle rather than sticking to the stopper. The airtight 45/12 joint is specifically designed to prevent atmospheric moisture from entering the bottle during the weighing process, which is critical for chemicals like anhydrous salts.
