The Covaris CP02 CryoPrep is a high-performance, automated system designed for the cryogenic pulverization of biological samples. Samples are processed in a frozen state, preventing the thermal degradation that often occurs with high-speed mechanical homogenizers. Unlike beads or blenders, it can pulverize tissue without adding buffers, which is ideal for precise mass-balance studies. Processing occurs in single-use tissueTUBEs, eliminating the risk of cross-contamination and protecting the user from biohazardous aerosols. Traditional mortar-and-pestle grinding is labor-intensive and inconsistent; the CP02 provides a reproducible, automated alternative that ensures every sample is pulverized to the same fine powder consistency.
