Tecan Microplate Reader 590 nm Filter for GENios Series
The 590 nm filter for the Tecan GENios series is a standard 12.5 mm diameter interference filter used for both absorbance and fluorescence applications. In the GENios architecture, these filters are mounted into specialized excitation or emission filter slides.
The 590 nm wavelength is commonly utilized in the following laboratory protocols:
-
Cell Viability (Resazurin / AlamarBlue): While the peak fluorescence emission for resorufin (the product of resazurin reduction) is 585–590 nm, this filter is often used as the emission filter in cell health monitoring.
-
MTT Reference Wavelength: In MTT-based cell proliferation assays, 570 nm is the primary measurement wavelength, but 590 nm is frequently used as a reference wavelength to account for background interference or plate imperfections.
-
Protein Quantification (BCA): Although 562 nm is the peak for the BCA assay, a 590 nm filter can be used for absorbance measurement of the copper-BCA complex in standard protein assays.
-
Fluorescence Emission (Texas Red / mCherry): Serves as an emission filter for deep-orange fluorophores like Texas Red and mCherry, typically paired with excitation filters in the 540–560 nm range.
Used; excellent condition.
