The Pall 12997 AcroPak 500 Capsule Filter is a high-performance, disposable filtration unit designed for the efficient sterile filtration of media, buffers, and other biological fluids. It features a filtration area of 500 cm², making it suitable for processing medium-to-large volumes of liquid (typically up to several liters) quickly and effectively.

A critical feature of this capsule is its dual-layer Supor (polyethersulfone/PES) membrane configuration with a 0.1 / 0.1 µm pore size rating. While standard sterilization filters often use a 0.2 µm pore size, this tighter 0.1 µm rating is specifically engineered for enhanced protection, particularly for the removal of mycoplasma—tiny bacteria that can pass through larger pores and ruin cell cultures. The PES membrane is naturally hydrophilic and offers low protein binding and high flow rates, ensuring valuable products are not lost during filtration.

The capsule is fully disposable and comes pre-sterilized by gamma irradiation, eliminating the need for cleaning or assembly.
