The Pall KA02DFLP2S Capsule Filter, part of the Mini KleenPak series, is a specialized filter designed for critical sterile filtration of liquids, particularly in pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical applications. This capsule filter utilizes a 0.2 µm (micrometer) Fluorodyne DFL membrane, which is a hydrophilic PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) membrane known for its very low extractables and high transmission of proteins and preservatives. The Fluorodyne DFL membrane is a sterilizing-grade filter, validated to retain Brevundimonas diminuta, ensuring a sterile effluent.

The Mini KleenPak capsule format is specifically designed for applications where a low filter surface area is critical, with an effective filter area (EFA) of 200 cm². This compact size, combined with a very low hold-up volume (typically ≤ 6 mL), makes it especially suited for the filtration of high-value/low-volume products, for replacing disc filters, and for scale-up and scale-down activities without significant product losses. The KA02DFLP2S model is pre-sterilized by gamma irradiation, ensuring it is ready for immediate use in aseptic processes.

This Pall filter is widely recommended for sterilizing filtration of pharmaceutical fluids, including solutions with active ingredients, biologicals, biotech proteins, ophthalmics, and other dilute preservative solutions.
