Aldrich Glass Splash Protector 24/40 Joints
The Aldrich Z243892 is a specialized laboratory glassware component designed as an anti-splash head or bump trap for rotary evaporators and distillation manifolds. It is engineered to prevent the mechanical carryover of foaming or "bumping" liquids from the boiling flask into the vapor duct and condenser, which would otherwise contaminate the distillate or damage vacuum systems. The Z243892 features a unique double-baffle design. This configuration consists of two internal glass plates with horizontally opposing holes. Despite the baffles, the internal volume is optimized to maintain low flow resistance, ensuring that the pumping speed of the rotary evaporator is not significantly throttled. The glass is highly inert to water, neutral/acidic solutions, and a vast array of organic solvents. It meets ISO 3585 standards for chemical durability, ensuring that it does not leach extractables into sensitive chemical syntheses. The baffles act as impingement surfaces; kinetic energy from "bumping" liquid is dissipated upon impact, causing the liquid to coalesce and drain back into the boiling flask while the vapor phase continues to the condenser.
Used, in great condition.
