Cadence Science 7977 Micro-emulsifying Needle 2 7/8 Inch with Bar 18 g Pack of 4 Needles
Cadence Science 7977 Micro-emulsifying Needle – 18 G x 2 7/8 in., Double-Hub with Bar
The Cadence Science 7977 is a precision-engineered micro-emulsifying needle designed for the high-shear homogenization of immiscible liquids. Featuring a dual-hub configuration, this 18-gauge needle allows for the secure connection of two Luer-lock syringes, creating a closed-loop system for the rapid transfer of fluids. The 2 7/8 inch stainless steel cannula is equipped with a central reinforcing bar, which provides the necessary structural rigidity to withstand the high manual pressures generated during the emulsification process. This tool is the industry standard for preparing oil-in-water or water-in-oil emulsions, such as Freund’s Adjuvant mixtures, ensuring a uniform and stable final product. Manufactured from 304 stainless steel with nickel-plated brass hubs, the 7977 offers excellent chemical resistance and is fully autoclavable for repeated laboratory use.
Technical Performance and Design
-
Double-Hub Configuration: Equipped with female Luer-lock hubs at both ends, allowing for a leak-proof connection between two syringes for reciprocal fluid transfer.
-
Central Reinforcing Bar: The integrated bar prevents the cannula from bending or snapping under the extreme pressure required to force viscous materials through an 18-gauge orifice.
-
High-Shear Mixing: The internal diameter of the 18 G needle provides the specific resistance needed to break down droplets and create a fine, stable emulsion that will not separate over time.
-
304 Stainless Steel Cannula: Ensures maximum compatibility with various biological reagents, adjuvants, and solvents while maintaining a sharp, burr-free internal surface.
