Its purpose is to provide a secure, hermetic seal for any unused M10 threaded ports during a fermentation or cell culture run. Bioreactor headplates often feature multiple ports for versatility—commonly M10 sizes are used for harvest tubes, thermowells, or level sensors—but rarely are all used simultaneously.
