The Invitrogen ZOOM IGPRunner is a core component of the ZOOM Benchtop Proteomics System, specifically designed for isoelectric focusing in the first dimension of 2D gel electrophoresis. The lid is designed with integrated power leads. The system cannot be energized unless the lid is fully seated and closed, protecting the user from high-voltage electrical hazards. The lid is designed to maintain a consistent environment for the IPG strips while allowing for minimal evaporation, which is crucial for preventing the strips from drying out during long runs. Unlike standard horizontal rigs, the cables are typically hard-wired into the lid to ensure a secure, proprietary connection to the power supply.
