Tecan Microplate Reader 595 nm Filter for GENios Series
The 595 nm filter for the Tecan GENios series is a standard 12.5 mm diameter interference filter used primarily for absorbance measurements. In the GENios architecture, these filters are mounted into specialized excitation or emission filter slides.
The 595 nm wavelength is most famously associated with the Bradford Protein Assay:
-
Bradford Assay: This is the industry-standard wavelength for measuring protein concentration using Coomassie Brilliant Blue G-250. When the dye binds to protein, its absorbance peak shifts from 465 nm to 595 nm.
-
MTT Reference Wavelength: In cell viability assays, 595 nm is frequently used as a background reference wavelength. Because the MTT formazan product absorbs strongly at 570 nm but very little at 595 nm, subtracting the 595 nm reading helps eliminate noise from fingerprints or plastic imperfections.
-
ELISA Secondary Wavelength: Used for specific colorimetric substrates in enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays that produce a blue or purple end-product.
Used; excellent condition.
