Pharma Test Powder Density Tester
The Pharma Test PT-TD1 Tap Powder Density Tester is a laboratory instrument designed to measure the tapped or bulk density of powders and granules, a critical quality control parameter in the pharmaceutical industry. This compact benchtop unit is engineered for precise density measurements, which in turn helps to assess powder flowability and compressibility.
The PT-TD1 is built to comply with global pharmacopeia standards, including USP <616, Method 2> and EP <2.9.34>, which specify a standard drop rate of 250 taps per minute at a drop height of 3.0 mm.
The instrument works by mechanically tapping a cylinder containing the sample until the volume no longer decreases. The result, expressed in g/mL, is calculated using the initial sample weight and the final tapped volume.
